Thread: Why are western men so much interested in Russian girls?

Though, i'm not ignorant of some of the reasons why western men would choose Russian women any time any day, but i need your contributions:
Are Russian ladies really that sexy and beautiful?

Well, I simply met my girlfriend at a party. I had no idea she was russian until she told me. Before her I had and still have no interest in Russian girls apart from her.


But judging from her, they're super sexy.

Judging from what i saw abroad, and comparing Russian girls to European or American counterparts, I might add that Russian girls are traditionally humbler and less demanding, and they generally have a bigger incentive to be humble wives to securely stay abroad. I wouldn't say that the sexual aspect though is unimportant as well; some say Russian girls are attractive.

They are more beautiful, yes. Slavic genetics ftw.

Depends on the person. I can't generalize as far as personality. My wife has values, is humble, knows how to cook good, etc. but she is also a Christian.

Surely Russian women are individuals and you can't generalise like this!

Also, if an American man (for example) married a Russian woman and lived with her in the USA I think he'd be in for a surprise. Most likely the Russian woman would start behaving like other women around her pretty soon. So much for his feminine "humble" wife!

This objectification of Russian women irritates me as a woman.
Obviously they can dress and behave in any way they like and I personally am not a massive feminist, and I believe in more traditional gender roles. But this discussion of them like some kind of "more desirable property" irritates me!

Russian women for that matter seems to be pretty good at dumping useless men who drink and behave like sluggards! The divorce rate there is high. I personally spoke to two Belarussian women who had got divorced because their husbands where behaving irresponsibly and boozing to much to sum up the situation. They had enough.

There are certainly more Russian women who married non-Russians than vice-versa.

Well, it's just my opinion.. but, I think people tend to see in things what they want to see.

Firstly.. For a long time there was this silly thing called "Russian Brides." I think the image of this concept colored everything.. Even though I think this 'business' is a thing of the past, and probably should be. Still, when I started to learn Russian, I found I had to be careful, because it seems 90% of the people that were, at that time, trying to meet and talk to Russians were actually trying to marry them and import them in like chattel. (Chattel, not cattle.. but the unlikeability of the idea is clear with either word) ... I had to clarify that I was indeed not one of these buy-me-a-wife-online people.. (What a horrible concept, says I)

Russian women are often beautiful.. but, the same can be said of most peoples on Earth. Genetic interplay draws some to others, and so on and so forth, but for the most part, I think this comes from people simply seeing things as they want to see them.

Another thing could be said for the often-displeasing experience of dealing with American women.. When the factors of value and attraction get dumbed down to possessions, social ranking and career... evolution might be happy about it, but the experience of dating, getting to know a person, falling into that ubiquitous L-word state with one another - it starts to feel robotic, soulless, sociopathic... I'd rather not be in a relationship than to be in one so cold, as they can be.

Who's to say Russian women aren't the same way? Well, the answer is simple, there - not most Western men, who don't really know that for a fact.. maybe they're all headed to disappointment, as some Russian men have explained it to me.. or maybe they're the wisest of us all.

In my personal experience, Russian people by and large are hard workers, good planners for the future, and good to their families. Surely that won't describe all Russians, but it's been my experience.

Maybe given these predispositions, westerners could get in their head that they'd be lucky to have a Russian wife.. I know I'm personally a bit biased in that direction.. whether I meant to be, or not. =)

EDIT: Let's leave sexism in its well-deserved coffin.... At the end of the day we all know what Hanna said about objectification is correct. Pandora should stay in the box.

I hope you irritation has nothing to do with a nation. People(I was about to say women but then I realized that men too) don't like to be "measured", especially sexually. I certainly share your views in this and I think your irritation is understandable.
Just search for other posts of topicstarter and you will see that this poll was "loaded"

I'm not trying to be hateful, but I wish we weren't perpetuating that stereotype by way of this poll... What beauty a person, a people, a group has, it's actually belitted by this kind of thinking.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No, not all Russian women look like super models (just like all American girls do not)... I understand Hannah's frustration. Me and my Eastern European female friends/family... Most of us closed our myspace accounts because we constantly got creepy messages from old Japanese guys and tons of Arab guys claiming to be sheiks or Arab Princes something. They would begin a message by: "Hi beautiful! I am looking for a wife and I thought your picture was very nice! Let's be friends!" I mean, seriously? Really? That is just pathetic! Now we all use facebook, which is a lot better in regards to that stuff!
