In Russia, does the action of crossing fingers or translation of "Fingers Crossed" have the same meaning as in English of "Good Luck".
I do know that crossing fingers (usually behind the back) means that an oath or promise is taken falsely or with the intention to break it, but I mean "Good Luck" here.

I remember, I've read the phrase "скрестить пальцы на счастье" in some books...
Well maybe this is not a global thing for English.
I thought of it tonight because on a T.V. game show the host was about to begin a new round and said, "good luck to our contestant" and supported this by crossing her fingers on both hands.
Another example would be, "I had a job interview today. It went well and, fingers crossed, I get the job." I suppose in this context it means "hopefully".
I've just asked my mum if she ever uses the expression 'fingers crossed' (in Russian) to mean 'good luck'. She answered in the negative. So I'm not alone 8)
