I want to know how to say famous communist expressions in Russian.

For example:

“They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.”

“The capitalists will sell us the rope we will hang them with.”

“A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.”

Я Питер плохо знаю. Я даже на карте Адмиралтейство могу не найти.

The cinematograph remains the most important form of art for us, at least while the majority of population remains illiterate.

Not sure exactly who said this, or why, but it was quoted in one of my school books and it seemed like a very smart observation to me as a child... In reality of course, this proves nothing.

But reading this comment from cosmonouts who I admired ruined my Christian faith for many years!!

That's ridiculous! Anybody who makes comments like this deserves to become a "statistic" himself...
I think it's much more likely that this is something that was made up in the media of other countries.
If you are going to learn Russian I think you should drop ideas like this and stop believing in everything that you read about Russia in the papers in your country. Leave it to the Russians and other ex-USSR countries to judge the USSR...

But this is true. The first phrase is by Vladimir Ulianov (Lenin), although he was a USSR citizen less then two years.(USSR was formed in 1922 and Lenin died in 1924). And it is believed that the second one belongs to Joseph Jugashvilly (Stalin), but of course one couldn't find it in his oficial monographs, published in USSR and in the Soviet press because of it's terrible cynicism. It became wide known much later after his death from witness' memoirs. But these two guys were really couple of monsters. One betrayed his country for the enemy in WW1 for his maniacal communist ideas and another was a Georgian bandit (he robbed banks in his youth), who accidentally came to power...

Nah, this quotation was originated from the novel "Der schwarze Obelisk" by Erich Maria Remarque (1956): "Aber das ist wohl so, weil ein einzelner immer der Tod ist - und zwei Millionen immer nur eine Statistik."
