    To google?

After reading the snide posts about using Google to find information about "Soviet History," I was wondering if there's a Russian equivalent for "to google." Of course this is slang -- and I'm not even sure if Google has the same mass audience appeal in Russia, since I think Yandex is pretty popular too.

I use Google pretty often! As far as I remember the subject about 'to google' was already brought up a while ago. Well, it seems to me that someone said then that the verb 'гуглить' existed. Honestly, I never use this word, so I can't say how common it is.

I would be grateful if you would correct my mistakes, since I would like my English to sound as natural as possible.

OK, well judging by your links, I've reached two conclusions:
a)гуглить-погуглить is used by some small number of Russians (only 13-14.000 hits, so I would personally consider that to be a limited usage at this point).
b)Among those hits, however, it seems the bigget hit leaders are those that use the verb when referring to the English verb -- that is, it's essentially used as a translation, rather than a genuine, stand-alone Russian verb. I hope I phrased that in an understandable fashion?

Yes, you're right that the word 'гуглить' exists in Russian as a tranlation from English. However, most Russians who are familiar with the Internet would have no trouble understading what you mean if you said 'гулить' or 'погуглить'.

OK, good. I think all I'm getting at is that they probably wouldn't use it themselves -- just based on the frequency of hits I received, without it first being used by an English speaker.

to google = отправить запрос в поисковую систему гугл с целью получения релевантных результатов.

Example: I am going to google more about that tomorrow.
Я завтра собираюсь отправить несколько запросов в поисковую систему гугл с целью получения релевантных результатов об этом.

I'll give it a go too.

-I'll be googling on the web anyway tomorrow, so if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.
-Завтра я буду гуглить интернет по-любак, поэтому, если тебе надо че-нить, не бойся спрашивать.

Ну потому что звучит оно коряво как-то. Хотя к сорри уже все привыкли, кажется.

Оно что-то типа неестественного переноса с английского на русский. Не несёт нужной смысловой нагрузки. Слово для красоты. С успехом можно просто использовать "искать". Или звучит пресно?

And I like the word гуглить - me and my brother always use it. Besides it's much easier to me to say гуглить than to say Google or search throgh Google in Russian because гуглить has soft л and Google hasn't.

Someone even song that - a big Afroamerican guy in white suit and sunglasses -

    I like to Google-Google
    I like to Google-Google
    I like to Google-Google
    You like to - Google!!
    Я так думаю.
