    Brighton Beach

    Has anyone been to Brighton Beach, the New York Russian district? I'd simply like to know what to expect and what to see.

    I've been to Brighton Beach in England. No sand, just stones. Lots of gays too. It's like San Fransico, except with lots of old people too.

    Cool song BM. I remember hearing that song when it first came out. It must have been 20+ years ago. Man I am old.

    Never been to Brighton beach and apparently not too many of us regulars on the forum have either.

    So what brings you to Brighton beach anyway?

    I've been to Brighton Beach twice. It's a small section of Brooklyn. What to expect:

    Lot's of Russians
    Most of the signs on the stores are in Russian
    There were a few Russian book/cd/video/dvd stores
    Pretty hard to find parking
    I wasn't looking (I'm hetrosexual) but saw no gays

    Brighton Beach Avenue is where I spent most of my time.
