I saw the "picking up money" thing in a couple of places. One was a tourist"ie" book, and secondly, I had a guest lecturer in a class mention this.

Maybe it it depends on how much we are talking about and if it is USD or EUR.....

There should be a world clock on here, so that we know what time it is for the others who we are chatting with!

I just find it interesting... I just spent 5 minutes or so looking up times on Google-- but it would be so much easier if we just had a few clocks in the corner, telling the times of the most common places where users are from.

And how are you going to figure out what particular user time is? According to location field? In many cases it says just a country name which has more than one time zone and sometimes it says something like "Soon to be fourth, if TATY keeps going like this" which doesn't help you at all.

Those "motivated" to study the language will benefit from what is available and won't need artificial stimuli to coax them on...I try to work on the language daily but some days I just can't spend too much deliberate time...I always listen to Russian music so I hear the words and carry an electronic translator and dictionary with me for occasionally referance...
whatever you did to this site would make no difference to my motivation to study and enjoy Russian.

Personally I would like to see more info in users' profiles: gender, age, native language, place of birth. All of it should be optional, of course.

For example, when somebody gives you an advise on the language issue, it is useful to know, whether person who gives it is a native speaker or not.

I agree completely with you; it is very strange to see that no one gives the faintest information about him. It looks as if were "spyes": "Alfa-23 for Xi-45: The mouse is in the kitchen". I don't understand that. So everyone looks like hidding from the others. It sounds little friendly, but it is what there is.

Прикольно!!! Я никогда не знакомился с человеком из Бутана ни в жизни ни в интернете.. Я сильно интересуюсь Бутаном и близлежащим регионом.

Бутан - страна монастырей со старинными рукописями. Не знаю, как сейчас, но не так давно это была страна, совершенно закрытая для иностранцев.
