Anyone living in / been to San Francisco

I'm going to San Francisco with my Bulgarian friend July 1 - 4. Can anyone recommend some places to go / activities to do that would be of interest to a girl from Eastern Europe? Neither of us have been to San Francisco, so I have no idea what to do besides maybe a bay cruise, but something that would appeal to her and her culture would be great...
We're staying downtown at the Hyatt (and decided against renting a car since we were told parking is difficult) if that's of any relevance to the activities in that area.
    Thanks!

San Fran . . . great city. I always had fun visiting there. Been there twice and there's definitely loads to do. Huge Russian population. Since the two of you are staying right in the downtown area, getting around is easy with the abundance of public transportation. The city's compactness helps a great deal, also. There's great scenery from a lot of areas in town - especially the view of the bay area from Twin Peaks. Of course, and obviously - the usual major, tourist points of interest (Haight & Ashbury area, Fishermans Wharf, Presidio, etc.), but they're fun places to see for a new visitor. There's also plenty of shops, cafes and resturants to choose from. Eat at Ka Zamen (right spelling ) - good Arabic resturant. There were massive hookahs at every table , but I believe the smoking ordinance have changed things a bit.
If only you could see . . . what I have seen, with your eyes.

I think I found it, Kan Zamen?
Thanks, we'll definitely check it out!

ps- Does anyone living in that area want to try to meet for dinner one of the nights?? Preferrably in the down-town area, since we won't have a car..

Dude, I would have loved to! But you are visiting us at the very same moment I will be flying to New Orleans. If you go one day early, it's a done deal!

as for touristy stuff to do in SF Area:

    - Alcatraz
    - Golden Gate (duh)
    - Cable cars
    - Muir Woods (requires a bus tour, see the redwoods!)
    - Fishermans Warf
    - Clubs
    - Bars
    - Pubs
    - Liqour stores you get the idea.

Aww, crap! I feared that most people would be travelling during this time. I'll try to check out all those sites, and especially the last four in great detail!

    Вид на Сан-Франциско из космоса
    Copied from http://www.ourprivate.net/forum/viewtop ... 8%F1%EA%EE

Oh, man, I wish I were going with ya.

Bulgarian woman, hmm, this is not quite the right forum for her interests, I would imagine.

But if she's orthodox, she might like to to go a service at the cathedral on Geary Blvd.,

If you were going a bit later in the month, my group (I used to sing bass long ago in this group), slavyanka.org performs at the annual Living History Day. (Those of you who live in the area -- Указ от Политбюро: go!)

It's not real time. The satallite photos are about six months old.

Very interesting and useful site. Anyone care to show an aerial photo of what their neighborhood looks like from above?

Start from yourself. It's fun, creepy and everything else in one place but people will get used to it

Forget Google maps. Go here: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there. It's a great program.

Well, I wasn't entirely serious . . . besides, my neighborhood is too boring to look at from space, anyway.
