Thread: Anyone know/remember/ can help me find famous Russian writer quote about dachas

The quote was something about dachas being the new slavery of the Russian man. Дача

I believe long ago I saw the quotation on a cover of a Soviet satirical magazine But I could be wrong.

Maybe it was on something like Крокодил I don't remember. I can't even remember the famous
Russian/ probably Soviet writer who made the joke.

I must find this quote. I want to have it engraved and put it in my newly built dacha in America!

I feel like a slave-- always fixing stuff, tending the garden, making nastoika.

It seems to me it's just folk humor without specific author.
There was famous concept 'voluntary slavery' (добровольное рабство) from french philosopher which was discussed by famous russian writer Lev Tolstoj, but it has nothing relevant to dachas.
However folk humor seems to bind this concept to dachas by it's nature of 'voluntary slavery' and sometimes 'voluntary' is omitted.
Satirical cartoon is very probable because it's really fun.
If you still want to make some sign, you can write 'Is dacha voluntary slavery or forced rest?' as a joke.
