But anyway, why are we hassling Dimitri, he's not doing anything wrong is he? Anyway, it's fun reading you guys' arguments about how to speak your own language... even though half the time I don't know what you're on about...

At least you know who you are dealing with: we are just a bunch of raucous geeks ignorant of their own language.

Nothing wrong apart from being self-important and stubborn sometimes. Thank heavens he seems already answered all unanswered posts and revived all the threads he was interested in. But oh well nobody's perfect.

I believe some people aren't really ignorant, for instance Friendy.

Regardless, she is not the one dominating this forum.

Because it's way easy to say bullsh!t than to say something smart. And you know that Russian proverb с дураком свяжешься... (I don't have someone particular in mind). So she probably trys to stay out of trouble :)

Well I dont take it overly seriously. It's just a forum, an exposure to native speakers, an intuitive component in the learning process, plus some practice in writing. I can see that only very few people learning Russian take advantage of that and try to communicate in Russian, while others - well, you take advantage of them

Sure, it's not all serious. And you're right just a few people practise Russian nowdays. I remeber back then when I joined the forum people practised much more (dogboy, pravit, waxwing...). Or it's not true? Anyway I'll stay here for now to practise my English helping people with their Russian :)

PS: I wonder why some people who know Russian well enough don't write in Russian more often, eg kalinka, blackmage, tatu.
