    What does a synopsis say?

I can't understand the last sentence in the synopsis. Please, rephrase it to make it clear

"Piano prodigy Arima Kosei dominated the competition and all child musicians knew his name. But after his mother, who was also his instructor, passed away, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a recital that resulted in him no longer being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing was perfectly fine. Even two years later, Kosei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monotone, and without any flair or color. He was content at living out his life with his good friends Tsubaki and Watari until, one day, a girl changed everything. Miyazono Kaori is a pretty, free spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her personality. Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world and show that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to."

She helped the guy realize that in the music world he makes the rules rather than obeys any existing rules.

Kaori helps Kosei return to the music world
Kaori помогает Kosei вернутся в мир музыки
and show that it should be free and mold breaking
и показывает, что она должна быть свободной и раскрепощённой
unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to."
в отличие от структурированного и скованного стиля, к которому Kosei привык.

Это дословный перевод, который ничего не проясняет

Thanks a lot. May you explain me, how "it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigit style Kosei was used to" turns into "he makes the rules rather than obeys any existing rules"?
    My questions :
    1. It should be free - what is `it` and why is it `free`?
    2. mold breaking - I translated that `break the mold` is `to stop doing something you used to and do something very new`, but it makes no sense for me with other parts of sentences.
    3. unlike the structured and rigid style Kosei was used to - I would say that `mold breaking unlike the structured and rigit style Kosei was used to` means `stop play piano dull and worisome as he used to and start playing vigorous` or somehow like that. But he haven't play since instructor's death, so about what are `Kosei was used to` and `structured and rigid style`?

    1. Музыка
    3. На 99% уверен, что имеется ввиду "академичность" против "фристайл". Фильма просто не видел, но скорее всего по сюжету парень имел дело исключительно с классической музыкой, а девушка была из "прогрессивных/альтернативщиков".
