To put things into perspective is sort of complex. A perspective is a point of view, or a way of thinking. Its usually a personal thing specific to each person. To put into perspective is like, looking at the grand perspective. "To look at the big picture". Like "missing the forest for the trees." Youre to focused on a small part of something bigger. Putting into perspective would be realizing this and thinking about all the things you were missing.
Never take any workout for granted is phrased strange. I don't know if the "workout" part is part of the story or what(edit: yep...). Anyway the standard phrase is "to take for granted" which means to to take something or experience something and not truly know or appreciate the real meaning or benefit of it. A Kid might take for granted that they have a wealthy family because they dont know what its like to be poor, if their family lost all its money, that would put things into perspective for the kid.
