Кот в мешке 2

Париж встретил меня мелким, чуть моросящим, прохладным дождиком.

LOVER TILL THE END OF TIME 2

Parisians experience hardly drizzles and cool showers.

крупскяа, I thought you said you were going to stop messing around like this and learn Russian the real way -- with a textbook.

Thanks deker. My translation was close to its real interpretation. Here is what I do. I list down the exact translation of every word. Then I arrange them in such a way that it will make sense. Then I follow the principles of English grammar. Then I write down my interpretation. The only thing where I committed a mistake was 'greet'. If I got it. Then my sentence would make sense. Pardon me if I committed another mistake. I will try not to do it again.,

This is a poor way to learn a language. Simply because you can't pick up a correct translation of every word without the context. Some words in English could have up to several dozen different meanings in Russian and vice versa. If you write down every possible combination for each word you'll end up buried in paper with your melted brain leaking out from your ears. )))

I got another grammar book. My other is confusing. But this time it is clear.

In Russian there are no articles.

Case: Subjective and Objective

Six cases: Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative, Instrumental casee, prepositional case, further divided into singular and plural and further divided into feminine and masculine

Possession is shown by using the genitive case. Genitive answers the questions (of whom), (of what), and (whose).

Indirect object is expressed by the dative case.,

There are also variety of cases possible after a preposition

1. for this person-genitive case
2. dative case after по - example: a course ON Akhmatova
3 accusative after (through) or черезn- through the park
4. instrumental case -after перед - in front of the house--
5. prepositional case after о - example: about my horses

etc etc. They became clearer and clearer to me.

I still say you should spend some money and get yourself a good language book. Look on this site for people's reviews of books. You actually want a textbook, not a grammar book. I think a teaching aid that refers to Case: Subjective and Objective in an elementary grammar should go straight to the wastebasket.
