Wise choice! As I understand, Russian and Italian have somewhat similar system of sounds, this is why they sound so wonderfully.
And thus learning should be a bit simpler.

it's not easier than for an English, for example

unfortunately there is nothing in common between these two languages, only thing in common is that they both are Indo European languages
