Thread: Hello

My name is Matthew and I am excited to start learning Russian. I have only been studying for two weeks but seem to be enjoying it so far. I have yet to dive deep into the almighty Russian grammar that I have read about. As of now, I am trying to tackle pronunciation and have started constructing sentences while building a small vocabulary. I seem to have trouble with pronunciation regarding what syllable should be stressed in different words. Not to mention the soft consonants and everything else. I guess in good time and hard work it will come. For the material I am using the well known penguin course and the Pimsleur audio for comprehension. I have noticed the difference between my pronunciation and those speaking from the audio courses and It looks like I have a lot of work ahead me.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying studying Russian so far. The worst thing for me in the very beginning was also the pronunciation. Just keep knocking it out day by day, and you'll continue to improve!

Hello, my friend! I read your post and I think I can help you to improve your skills of Russian. Learning foreign languages is a very interesting and important thing. I am native Russian speaker, also I speak Kazak language(I am from Kazakhstan) and learning English.
