Thread: Greetings from New Zealand

Hello Everybody,

My name is Mitchell and I'm a new member to the forum as I have a desire to learn the Russian language.
I've always found the language intriguing and think it sounds quite beautiful although I don't know very much about the culture.
So far I haven't really started learning anything; I figure my first step is to learn how to read and write so I'm going to start there.
I've had a peruse (look) around the fora and I am impressed with the quality of the community. Everybody seems to be very friendly which is great.

As such I'll endeavour to spend some time in the English sub-forum also so that I can help any Russian (or other) students that want help with their English studies as it's only fair if it goes both ways.
I've found the sticky threads in the Getting Started sub-forum very helpful but if anybody has any further advice for a complete beginner then that would be greatly appreciated as well.
