Здравствуйте,
I'm from Taiwan. (an island between China and Japan)
My mother tongue is Mandarin Chinese.
Then I moved to the United States and absorbed (not learned) English.
I studied Japanese for 5 years and have reached a proficiency to read news and manga in Japanese.
But I don't felt I have learned a "foreign" language just yet.
As Chinese and English are both absorbed, and Japanese have too much similarities with Chinese.
Now Russian is a truly different language to me. The pronunciation and challenging yet beautiful.
The grammar is unique but quite difficult for me. Russian is really a "foreign" language to me.
I wish I can reach a proficiency to read books in Russian. (there are lots of Russian books in my nearby public library)
Such a shame that my university offers no Russian courses, nor do I have anyone near me speaks Russian.
All I have are 3 textbooks, some audio CD, and this website. But I will try my best.
I only just studied Russian for a few months, so I might ask some silly simple questions on the forum.
Thanks.
