    Кровинушка?

    Hello everyone,

I am a beginner learning Russian on my own so far. I ran across this soap opera on Rossiya 1 called Кровинушка. What does this word mean? I can't find it in any dictionary. Has anyone watched this show? I think the show just ended (episode 230) but is it still available the archive of the station's website. I find it helpful to hear what seems like natural speech, even though I understand very little, I still think it helps, to pick up phrases here and there and to be exposed to the music of the language through the different intonations in different contexts. Was this a popular series in Russia? Can anyone give me any background information about it?

    Thanks for any help,
    Z

Кровинушка - derived from the word КРОВЬ (BLOOD) means someone who have your blood in them in other words - your child. This word is really strong and used rarely. Also can be used to describe someone you like, trust and who's your friend. Another meaning is a small drop of blood

By the way the usual form of the word is КРОВИНКА and КРОВИНУШКА is just the more emphatic way to say КРОВИНКА

As for the soap opera I haven't even heard about it before you mentioned it
I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.

    Thanks, iCake,

There's a theme song at the start of each episode and I can understand part of the lyrics (it's pretty short and simple) but a lot I can't understand. Would anyone be willing to listen to it and send me the lyrics in Russian? I haven't been able to find them on the internet. It seems the show wasn't a big hit if no one has heard of it. I think it's good for language practice though.

This is a link to the archives with the episodes.

    Here you go

    iCake,

Thanks so much for doing this for me. I recognize a lot of the words in print but I'll need to unravel the sense. Thank you again.
