Actually, in Russian it would be something like this:
Вы должны признать, что британский акцент обаятелен/притягателен/приятен.

    Yes.
Признать = acknowledge, admit, recognize, accept.
But, of course, everything depends on the context. In your context (the sentence "You've got to admit that British Peoples' accents are appealing.") the word "admit" should be translated as "признать". It definitely sounds better that way. Not that you were grammatically incorrect. It's a matter of right word usage.

    Давайте прекратим обсуждение этого вопроса.
    Let's drop this subject.

Мне стыдно, потому что я не помог умирающему мужчине.
I am ashamed that I didn't help the dying man.

    Ему пришлось угадывать ответ.
He had to guess the answer.

Ой, извини, Basurero! Вместо того, чтобы внести мои поправки в твои предложения отдельным постом, я случайно кликнула на "эдит" и исправила всё под твоим именем. У модератора есть такая возможность.

    Анекдот вспомнился.
Двое были на охоте, одному стало плохо и он потерял сознание. Другой звонит 911: "Что мне делать, мне кажется, что мой друг умер." Оператор: "First, make sure he is dead." Тишина, потом выстрел. "О.K. I made sure - he is dead. What do I do now?"

    Лол, отличный анекдот.

Мне хорошо, потому что люди теперь подумают, что я сам сочинил эти предложения без помощи.

This word seems to be giving me a lot of trouble.

    Word: поступАть(imp)/поступИть(per)
    Meaning: (verb) to act
    Pronunciation: postupAt/postupEEt
Example: ему не следовало так поступать
Translation: he should not have acted so

It has several other meanings, see here

Here are a couple of more words.
I always get them confused so maybe others are having the same problem.

    слышать/услышать
    Meaning: (verb) to hear
Example: он слышал плач ребёнка — he heard a child* crying
    Reference: http://www.rambler.ru/dict/ruen/00/aa/b9.shtml

    слушать/послушать
    Meaning: (verb) to listen
Example: слушать радио — listen to the radio
    Refernce: http://www.rambler.ru/dict/ruen/00/aa/b3.shtml

For a conjugation chart of these verbs, check this site out: http://russian.dmll.cornell.edu/rdt/

Edit: Sorry for the typos. They are fixed now

Shadow - maybe it will help your confuddlement if you translate слышать as "to hear" (passively), and слушать as "to listen" (actively)....
