Monthly payments for home, and taxes.

What is the average total payment for home (electricity, water, natural gas, garbage removal, etc.) in your place? I am specifically interested in US, as I am doing a small comparison review, but it'd be great to have information from other countries as well.

    Let's take a cheapest variant (1-room condo in high-rise: living-room and bed-room).
The bottom-line monthly payment for this in Russia is about 85-90 USD.

    What about your country?

And what is the annual home tax in your country?

    Hi Alexsms,

There is a thread that we had last January about this and also the some of the salaries. I'm not certain that costs have changed all that much. Interestingly enough, the thread was started by another Alex! 1000$ - much or little?

I can update you on the FARMS income level for this year for one person is $20,036 for a family of four it is $40,793. What this means is if you make that amount yearly or less your children are eligible for Free and/or Reduced Meals at school and other free or reduced programs.... like, the wavier of fees for testing to get into college.

Additionally, each area has its own poverty level based upon the cost of living in that area. Where I live it is very expensive so the poverty level figure is very high. For one rental property for senior citizens, you have to have an annual income of more than $27,200 but less than $36,250 for one person. If you have that, you can rent an apartment there for $861 per month. That is only the rent.

For a family of four in my area, an annual income of between $67,500 -$72,500 (depending upon the housing) or less will also get you housing assistance. And the cheapest 2 bedroom (double up to save money) is over $1,000 per month and a long drive away from most major employers in the DC area. Most of the apartments are closer to $1,300-$1,400 per month.

And.... for a single person, the average Efficiency available under the program is $1,055 per month.

This does NOT include your utilities or other expenses. This is ONLY the rent.
I only speak two languages, English and bad English.

I live in New Jersey. I'm not familiar with "home tax". In New Jersey we have property tax. I pay close to $5000 a year for that.

thanks, the link to the last year thread looks more about salaries (and about rents),

what i am interested in is mostly not rent, but UTILITIES prices, i.e charges other than what you pay for loan (if it's your property on loan) or rental

I can only tell about the way it is in Toronto. If you live in a one-bedroom condo apartment and you don't have an outstanding mortgage (loan) on it, you would regularly pay the property tax and the maintenance fee. The property tax depends a great deal on the location ($100-$200 a month) and the maintenance fee would usually include an unlimited usage of electricity, heating/cooling, water, basic TV cable (50 or so channels), 1 underground parking spot, some outdoor garden/grass maintenance, security/consierge, unlimited access for your family to the indoor pool, sauna, gym (usually some weights, machines, and squash/ping-pong). In some condos some of the features are not available/included (typically in the lower-rise condos). The maintenance package is not optional in a sense that you can't include more features or exclude some of them. The maintenance fee is in a range of $350 - $500 a month. These days the Canadian dollar is roughly equal to the USD. Hope it helps.

2 Crocodile Wow, that seems pretty cheap! Not so much more than I pay for a one-room apartment in Ukraine (with no pools/gyms/consierges, obviously ).

True words. I regularly visit Ukraine (mostly Crimea) and don't even get me started on the prices policy there. You see, obviously the trick is to pay off the loan though which rarely happens. The mortgage interest rate is around 3%-4% and the inflation rate is around 2%-3% so it doesn't really make sense to pay the loan off unless you can pay it off in really short time (<10 years).

I have a small house and I don't live in a "township", "city" or "planned community" if I did, I would have to pay extra in taxes or home owner association fees.

here are a list of some of my expenses:

    2010 property taxes $2,010
monthly cable: $75 (and that is the second cheapest package)
    home phone & internet: $53
gas (for heating and cooking) $103 (this is a balance billing plan so I pay this amount every month even during summer)
    water $106 (for 3 months)
electric $100 (but this will double during summer)

I don't pay for extra for garbage, snow removal, leaf pick up or that type of service. It is included with my county taxes. If I want to use the county pool I either pay per visit or get a membership.

    does this help?
