Thread: A youtube video lesson and a question

I found a pretty helpful little video lesson on youtube teaching kitchen items/foods etc.. (link), but at the end she says something that confuses me. She says "стави тарёлка на стол." Shouldn't it be "на столе"? Is that a mistake or did I learn something wrong? Or are there exceptions to using the prepositional case?

She says everything right. She uses the Accusative.

На + accusative is used to speak about direction or motion towards. Imagine that you are answering the question Куда? На что? Where? On what?

Дети вышли на улицу.
Воробей сел на ветку.
