    Pimsleur - для

I'm a bit confused by the pronounciation of 'для' her in 'для меня' and 'для вас.' It almost sounds like the 'я' is stressed in the latter (вас) case, but not with the former (меня.) My understanding is that the word doesn't change and the unstressed 'я' should sound like an 'и' in either case.

    Thanks in advance,

    Grogs

You see, "для" can be pronounced in different ways. Everyone pronounces it in the way he likes more.
Particularly in this case there is more unstressed "я" in "для меня" because of three syllables, i.e. two unstressed syllables precede the stressed one ([дляменя --> длименя]) and there is more evident "я" in "для вас" because of two syllables, i.e. only one unstressed syllable precedes the stressed one.
Personally I pronounce them both with evident "я", but you can hear in films (and not only) another variants, for example "[дливас]".
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

Can a few native speakers please record and post yourself saying both? Maybe it would help me to hear the different ways of saying them.

    Thank you,

    Scott
