I got a Teach Yourself Ukrainian book from the library.
I am a little confused about the pronuncation of the letter в and у. They are pronounced as in Russian, except if they are before a consonant or at the end of a word, in which case they are pronounced like the English W. But I'm not sure, firstly, how to pronounce a W before a consonant... e.g. Укра
ne znaju, :? meni zdayet'sja, 'V', Shcho ti dumayesh'?

(v) at the very beginning of a word or phrase immediately before a vowel and between vowels. 2, you pronounce в - u at the very beginning of a word or phrase immediately before a constanant, or between contonant. and в is pronounced as english W between a vowel and contonant and after a vowel at the end of a word
