You're born in Ukraine? I am too. Which city? You don't speak Russian if you're from Ukraine?

Thank you for your corrections. Which part of Ukraine are your friends from? The part of Ukraine I'm from, we speak Russian. I have a friend from Western Ukraine and she knows Russian too, but her family speaks Ukrainain as well.
About the word "freshman". So single is "Freshman" and plural is "Freshmen?" Because I reread your post and I was tempted to say, "freshmens..."

yea, freshmen.
and i dont know, they are from all over ukriane. They aren't even really my friends, actually. This year I only have like 4 or 5 friends who speak real russian at my school. All the rest of them graduated last year. But the ones i know of are all from donetsk region of ukraine. They all speak russian and claim the don't understand ukrianian.
Infact, they are just two groups of sisters who i talk to. Alina and Liliya merchenko, or something. And Olga and Helen Kobzar.
Then i have one friend from Beloruss who i talk to at lunch. Other than that we just have n00b ukrainians who love ricky martin and think russia is "dumb".

Yes I have a friend from Donetsk region. She doesn't know Ukrainian either, like me. Is your school very international? You seem to have a lot of Eastern Europeans at your school. And tell me this, what you mean by "real Russian?" Some Russian kids at your school speak Russian badly? I have a Kazakh friend who loves Russia dearly, though she speaks quite badly and makes silly mistakes.

Real russian like, they don't speak russian anymore. They spoke it untill they were like 5 and have been speaking english ever since.
They say things like Мы не может or,
что делать 4 девчонки.
Things that are understandable, but, are not really correct.

They are both pronounced the same though. (Like freshmen) because the accent is on the first syllable.Originally Posted by Евгения Белякова

Viira, since you are from Ukraine and you do not speak Russian, do you speak Ukrainian? Or did you move to USA and forget it all? Just wondering, sorry.

They speak a lot of Ukrainian in Lviv, so much that you shouldn't speak Russian there, or so I've heard! I thought they learn Russian in schools, though. Or it could be she's like you and was born there but moved to the US at an early age.
Ukrainian is spoken a lot more in Western Ukraine.(In Lviv) I have a friend from there that speaks Ukrainian and Russian. Lucky.

Well, that hardly qualifies as a mistake. A slip, yes, but not a mistake. I say far worse things myself every now and then and I am Russian and live in Russia!Originally Posted by Dogboy182
