I think you should install ICQ first, if you're looking for Russians.

I dunno know but I've never seen russian who uses MSN or Yahoo. Get ICQ and u_are_welcome :)
I wander, why americans do not use ICQ?
btw, time shift between west-Sibiria and US is about 12 hrs and this makes some difficulty.

глупости, ты считаешь что ICQ специально для нас что ли сделали :) 12 часов разницы здесь не причем :) Все равно что попивая чаек ругать десерт :) У меня допустим 13 часов разницы с друзьями но мне приходится использовать MSN , просто потому что либо им лень устанавливать ICQ либо они о ней даже слыхом не слыхивали
да хз, на самом деле я только тут узнал, что только наши люди любят асю, а весь мир уже на MSN перелез и прочие AIM-ы. Я думал МСН-удел микрософтолюбов-извращенцев... :)

Хех, я и не заметил что ты там тоже писал. Я думаю что ICQ просто появилось раньше, по крайней мере на заре Интернета в России, я ни про какие другие IM даже не слышал.
да, наверно....а сейчас, имея в контакт листе по 50 чел. перелазить на какую то другую программулину будет довольно болезненно. Да и особого стимула пока нет, никаких особых преимуществ как я понимаю у конкурентов АСИ нет. Вот если случится с ней что....ну, тогда пойдем дружно на поклон к дяде Биллу :)
Можно поставить SIM или Miranda которые кроме ICQ поддерживают AIM/MSN. Или Jabber, у него вроде даже к Yahoo есть plugin.
Некоторые вообще IRC предпочитают :)
They don't use ICQ because it sucks ;) what with its crazy long numbers instead of user names!(but i have ICQ b/c im a geek and have everything...lol)

Не эти кастрации я никогда не поставлю :) просто они либо поголовно глючные, либо полностью неудобные ... Щас мне приходится использовать как и ICQ так и MSN ... Я ни за что не соглашусь к примеру полностью перелезть на MSN ... Помнится был случай у меня уже с переездом, когда номер менял на более легкий вот намучился с перерегестрацией пользователей. Группу корешки которая сама по себе самая маленькая переносил наверное месяц, не говоря уже о кучи других контактов.
Вообще я щас надеюсь на Google, он по идеи вот-вот должен разродиться messengero м . почту предоставил, закрепился, должен пойти дальше ...
а насчет имен я вообще тащусь залепят че-нить pretty_canadian_girl

Most linux distros come with GAIM, which imho is the best IM client for any OSS platform---but guess what, it handles everything(IRC,MSN,ICQ,AIM,JABBER,ZEPHYR,YAHOO, as well as a few others). ANyways, if you use linux you should be using jabber anyways as it is the best open source IM protocol anyways.(most linux users I know have a jabber ID as well as all of the others...but they also use GAIM for everything.)Quote:

Единственное серьезное различие между icq и msn что msn просто windows портация аськи ну и то что они ориентируются именно по вашим "именам" а не по номерам... Мне кстати интересно как Plastic-Saint запоминает номера телефонов? :)

Using Jabber client for Windows 'Psi' for already 2 month and very happy. No adware or spyware (as in Yahoo IM), no compatibility issues (as with AIM), no dependence from Windows (as with MSN). I can text chat with all my friends, who's using MSN or AIM or Yahoo or ICQ or ... And for voice chats anyway no software better than Skype IMHO ;)
