French "r" doesn't sound like ours, nor Spanish, nor Russian, nor German, and I don't have a problem with any of those "r"'s.

What I know for sure is that French [r] is pronounced in a different way, not like Russian [х].Quote:

I'd say the French R sounds close to the German one. The one pronounced at the beginning or in the middle of a word, not at the end. Also the French R tend to sound differently (soft or not) depending on several reasons. For example whether you want to amplify it or not, where it's located in a word, and what vowel or other consonnant is/are next to it or pronounced with it.
Do not try to imitate the pronunciation of some singers such as Edith Piaf or Jacques Brel because nobody speaks like that. :-)
