What's the difference?

A guarantee is a non-physical promise of agreement that something will be done, or stuck to while a warranty is more of a legal, paper-pased (physical) promise.

A garantee usually means that the seller is so sure that the item will work, they garantee it. If it doesn't work, they'll give you your money back or send you a new one.

A warantee, on the other hand, usually implies that things can happen to this item (ie. digital devices, machinery). If or when this happens, if it's within the warantee period, you can send the item back to the manufacturer and they'll repair it for free. If something goes wrong AFTER the warantee, you have to pay to get it fixed.

So, guarantee is "firmer" than warranty?

Think of it like this: You gurantee to your friend that you've got beer, but he wants a warranty that you don't lie.
