"Whom" is absolutely correct for writing. When talking, chaika has a point, it is rarely used (although correct!), but then, when talking, you would just say, "Who does it take 3 hours to get home?" Talking, I wouldn't bother to repeat the whole thing.

- Whom does it take three hours?

'Whom' is primarily used in contemporary conversation in answering questions inquiring 'by/with'.
