Oh, now I see the difference. Thanks Ken.
Is this pronunciation standart both for AE and for BE?
No. The pronunciation is radically different for BE (what you hear is AmE). BE has some unusual treatment of the /r/. Of course, if I were a Brit, I would be saying that AmE has some unusual treatment of the /r/. The only thing "standard" is that the two words sound different in both languages.Quote:

BrE and AmE might treat the [r] differently, but 'word' and 'ward' are pronounced differently in both, that is, in neither dialect would 'word' and 'ward' sound the same.
Paradoxically, 'ward' has the [o] vowel sound, and 'word' doesn't.
Thanks to Mr. Rickman, да? :)Quote:

Аватар(а), in Russian, can be both female and male. Я уточняла. :P Это вопрос личных предпочтений. :)Quote:

yes kudos is singular, but you and I are the only people in the world who know that. It is like eros, thantos, lesbos, synposis, hypothesis, parenthesis, and that whole S crowd from Greece.
