western and russian civilization - clash of civilizations?

Hello!
How do young Russians (up to 29 years) feel about the West and Western culture, music, movies, fashion, political rights and liberties etc? Im doing a project on this for university and would be grateful if people could take a few minutes to fill out the questionnaire below (also as an attachment) or post comments on how they feel about the West:

4) What languages do you speak? Which foreign languages are taught
in school and are they compulsory/ optional?
5) On a scale of one to five (one being most positive, five being
most negative), how do you feel about the West in general?
6) What are your favourite movies?
7) What are your favourite TV programmes?
What are your favourite bands/singers?
9) What do you think of Russian young people's style? Is it Western
fashion or distinctively Russian? Do you prefer the 'Western' or the
Russian look?
10) On a scale of one to five (one being most positive, five being
most negative), how do you feel about Western lifestyle?
11) Do you feel you have anything in common with Western young
people? If so, what?
12) Do you feel there are any differences between Russian and
Western young people? If so, what?
13) What do you like most about Western Europe?
14) What do you dislike most about the Western Europe?

16) What do you dislike most about America?
17) Do you think that Russian young people have more or less freedom
(socially/ politically) than young people in the West?

This survey will be inherently biased because you are only getting responses from young Russians with a very good command of English.

Also, you may already know, but here in America we often consider Russia itself to be part of the West. This is for the same reason we consider countries like Japan to be part of the West: they are democratic, industrialized, and developed economically.

I'm pretty sure this is a double post - it was posted about a week or so ago in General Discussion.

Just an observation, but you do realize, Judy, that you won't get any serious responses to this, right? Comming into a forum and hurling 20 questions at people and expecting them to get back toyou is more annoying than those people in the mall who try to get you do to marketing surveys - except here you don't even get a 20% off coupon.

No. This is a triple post. :lol: I know, because I already made fun of the second post! :wink:

And Mage is right. I didn't say anything, because I didn't want to be any ruder, but I might as well now. You need to either get ample research funding from your department to do an ACTUAL survey or use Levada or VTsIOM data. Quite frankly, any decent professor will laugh you out of the room if you try to turn in data acquired from some internet message board...
