    Urban dictionary. Is it rude?

Question to native speakers of English: What do you think about the Urban dictionary? I seems to me some of the explanations in there are very rude? I sometimes doubt as to whether this or that word is appropriate. And I feel afraid to use some of the words as they seem rude to me.

Probably a good idea not to use this dictionary. Yes, a lot of taboo words in there. You will have very little occasion to use the contents of this dictionary unless you are living in a ghetto somewhere. Not very likely, is it? I would just learn the words you hear/read (they would be appropriate for your social milieu) rather than making an effort to learn what this dictionary contains.

Alex, you're totally right. MOST of what's in there is extremely filthy or bad, though not all, but most of it is enough to get you (well, me anyway) fired from work =) And also, most of what's in there isn't even common slang.. it's internet people thinking they're clever =)

oh, thanks for the comments, that has made me think more about such resources, that's what I was thinking about, it's often difficult to see that border when you are not a native speaker. In one of my favorite books "How to learn any foreign language...." the author recommends learning 'the other guy's bad language' with the only purpose to never use this bad language and be aware of that language.
