Так как по-английски назвать барабан пистолета?

У пистолетов барабанов нет . Барабаны бывают только у револьверов.

По-английски это cylinder.

Ладно, пусть это будет револьвер, я не против.

I am no weapon expert, but I have heard the expression "drum" pertaining to the round thing in the revolver, I am assuming that is your барабан?

I would have guessed барабан = "barrel" meaning the long pipe-like portion of a gun. E.g. double barrel shotgun

BTW: Welcome back KV. How was your trip? We had a great time at the "Thank God he's gone" party

And you would have guessed wrong :P

Barrel - это ствол (или дуло)
A барабан - эта та вращающаяся часть, где находятся патронники, они же гнёзда (chambers). Иногда эту часть называют drum, как сказал KV, но всё же обычное название - cylinder.

Chambers in the cylinder, and the cylinder revolves in the gun. The term "drum" isn't applicable to a revolver, or a pistol.
