    Pronunciation of Lysacek

Evan Lysacek is an American figure skater who won gold in Los Angeles last night.

How do you pronounce his surname? Is it lie - sah - check? Is the stress on the first syllable?
And, does anybody know what is the ethnic origin of this name (I can't find that on the Internet)? It sounds East European...
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

Yes, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njb6AMbOnLA at about 00:35-00:45, and "Evan Frank Lysacek (pronounced [ɛvʌn lyːsaːʧek]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Lysacek ([ tʃ ] = English church) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IPA

Maybe Polish? See Lysaczek: http://www.fotka.pl/profil/lysaczek and Lisaczek http://www.fotka.pl/profil/lisaczek/ Or Slovakia? See Lisáček: http://www.discogs.com/Menthol-Debut/release/1076210

I just thought that everyone in America knows about him much more than one can find on the Internet, or at least knows who he is and how the name is pronounced.

As for IPA, I don't understand it, and most of its symbols look like undecipherable signs to me.

Первый раз о нем слышу. Кажется, что ударения падают на два слога - первый и третьий - одинаково. А я думаю что это лучше звучит если бы ударение пало на второй слог, и только.

А у нас многие комментаторы так и говорят - Лисачек.

Прошу прощение. Не надо было исправить это. Я всегда думал, что эти слова отличались, хотя бы небольшой разницой. А теперь я искал какое-то различие в словарях - и его нет.
