    What about...

    Господа!
Поясните разницу между What about... и How about... можно пару примеров, если не трудно.
    Спасибо.

"What about" The meaning is: "Have you already thought about..."

"How about:" The meaning is: "Let's...(do somthing)"

    Examples:
    -I can't find my ring!
-What about the bathroom? Perhaps your ring is in there.

-I don't have money for the tickets.
-What about your parents? Maybe they will give you money.

-How about we go to the movies?

-How about you and I get together sometime to study?

I am not sure, but a think that in many cases either one of the two phrases could be used.

    Concerning your last remark:

We've had some pork, veal and beef, what shall we pick next?
    - What about some chicken? -- Have you thought about choosing chicken?
    - How about some chicken? -- Let's choose some chicken.

It's a stupid example, I know, and I'm not even completely sure.

The longer I think of it, the more stupid both sentences look...

I think you explained it quite well...

    ...but...

I have to say that "Have you thought about choosing chicken?" and "Let's choose some chicken" are two of the best sentences I've heard in ages. Thanks for giving me a giggle on a Monday morning

Howbout skewering scotcher and roasting it on a red-hot grill!
    That means Let's do it.

Whatabout skewering scotcher and roasting in on a red-hot grill?
That means, hmmm. there are several interesting things to be done here, (and I'm short of time), so let's see... what'll we do??? Yeah,... let's stick it to 'im.

But probly (as we tend to slur it) it's just that I'm scared by that joker face ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Allrighty,,, I'm open to Russian translations of this!

Pretty funny. Reminds of the slogans you see on TV all the time. "Beef! It's what's for dinner!" and "Pork! The other white meat!"
