    Made in where?

    Here are two sentenses:

    "Made in USA"

    "Made in the USA"

    Is the difference essential? How is more correct?

    no difference whatsoever, they just decided to say 'in the usa'. for what it its worth i myself would say 'made in the USA' if by chance i was indeed in the US making something

    I think it depends whether you read it out... Not sure, but I'd definitely say:

    Made in the USA
    Made in the UK

    But:

    Made in America
    Made in England
    Made in Russia
    Made in Germany

    Maybe it's idiomatic, because I think I'd say:

    Made in GB
    Perhaps because I'd write that but think:
    Made in Great Britain
    But for some reason, UK seems right as "The UK" or "The United Kingdom".

    Same for other sentences: I'm phoning England, but I'm phoning the UK.

    This is a good question. Personally, I've always wondered why we call it "the Ukraine" instead of just Ukraine.

    What I really love is somthings here say, made in australia from local and imported ingreadiance.

    Regardless, I usually avoid things made in usa because of there poor quality, in particular there cars, and there clothes.

    Things made in the USA, some are of poor quality, but not all. A good computer, Music(but that doesnt count), and... I think that is it. After all, everything Americans buy is made in China

    As regards this particular case, article 'the' should be present before abbreviations of all specific names - countries, organisations, etc. -because those abbreviations are specific words,
    - the USSR;
    - the USA;
    - the CIA.
    But placing of articles before unique full names of countries is excessive as in case with people's names,
    - John;
    - Natasha;
    - America;
    - Russia;
    - Burkina Faso.
    Why they print sometimes 'Made in USA' instead of '... in the USA'? Because they love to shorten everything.

    Well i would say the main difference is if you are "reading" about product/goods packaging, they always say "Made in .....".

    If you are talking about where something is made, people are more likely to say "Made in the ......".
