LEE-am.Quote:

Quote:

Quote:

Plenty of Irish around here... I met up with a 'kid' last summer that was here on a J-1 visa 20 years ago. In 20 years I expect the Russian 'kids' to return.
Local bar...

The better variant of the TATY's sentence is "Может быть, в Америке это имя не популярно."
Well, even according to the Mighty Rules loved so much by TATY there is nothing in this sentence to oppose to. For example, the following would be correct:Quote:

However, without the opposition, the space should be avoided as in:
The same goes about:
I think LAY-am is just Americans pronouncing it wrong. No one in the UK says that, and I'm pretty sure the only correct Irish pronunciation is LEE-am.Quote:

LYE-am/ Лаям is just plain flat out wrong though.
BTW Liam was originally just a diminutive of William.
