'Heavy' accent
I've recently heard a phrase 'heavy accent' used by a student of English. At first this combination of words seemed OK to me. But I have later checked a Oxford collocations dictionary and couldn't find such a collocation there. The usages suggested in the dictionary are 'broad, marked, pronounced, strong, thick'.
Does it mean that 'heavy accent' is not really a good collocation?
If you want Russian equivalents they are 'сильный, ярковыраженный, заметный акцент'.
Thanks

Yes, "heavy accent" is heard commonly in English. It's synonymous with "thick accent" or "strong accent." You'll hear "thick" and "heavy" more often than "strong," but in the end, they all mean the same thing.
