no..... I got out of it something else completly... He told her he was dumping her so.... She changed the way she kissed him. Maybe more passoinately to try and make him change his mind. Or more tenderly and longingly as if she was saying goodbye but just couldn't let go... so her kiss was different and he knew she still had feelings for him. it wasn't just a peck on the lips like when you kiss your guy goodbye to go to work or shopping... this kiss had a different meaning.

rockzmom, after rereading it, I think you are right. I don't get the above line, though. Maybe it's like he'd be willing to try again but wants more from her than a different kind of kiss?

On this one, I believe he is saying that whatever relationship they had has recently changed, and he wants it back to going the old way.

Example: They were just casual lovers and she pressed him for more of a commitment, maybe to move in together or spend more time together... let's get serious now I want you to start thinking about marriage and kids... kind of a move and he went along for a little while and realized that is NOT what he wants and can it go back to the old way that it was??

which would lead us into this line....

But now I want off this ride 'cause you're scaring me and I don't like where we're going

He doesn't like how things have progressed and wants out ("off this ride").
