As a fan of Alanis Morissette I feel I need to come to the defense of the song.
As you alluded, the song itself is quite ironic. Given that (one of the definitions of) irony is to refer to, or call something by that which it isn't
A song that is called ironic and purportedly about irony yet contains no actual irony at all, is ironic.
Now whether or not this was intended by the artist herself is unknown haha.
