The Texas Department of Education has online some excellent study guides. I have used these in the past with my girls. Besides English, they also have math, reading, science and social studies.

The guides explain the topic and then has you practice it as well. The answers are also explained. They have PDFs and online tests also for practice with scoring online to see how you are doing.
