    The Commonly Confused Words Test

I don't know if this has been done but I think it's quite useful:

    http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?te...00288064322170

    What did people get?

    My result:

    Native language: English
    Score: Advanced
You scored 92% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 86% Advanced, and 73% Expert!
'You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels' questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score'.

    =======

It can be hard for native English speakers, but it shows the common mistakes that native English speakers make, so if you learn and get these right, you know you're doing well.

So obviously if you get a low mark it's still more of an achievement than what it says.
Please correct any Russian language mistakes I make.

Hah, they didn't. I just wrote it out like that for my own message so that people could see differences.

    I'm an English genius.
You scored 85% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 80% Expert! That's disappointing though, b/c I apparently missed some!!! Oh, and I'm a native speaker. Bleah. Still, there was some funny stuff on there; I'm not sure if you non-native speakers caught it:
-Speeding is "risque" would mean that driving is sexually promiscuous/indecent!
-"Navel" travel would be the movement of your пуп?
-She had a "flare" for gardening would mean that she uses a ракета for her flowers!
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

You scored 71% Beginner, 92% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 73% Expert!

The puzzling part of your test result is the fact that you only answered 75% or less correct in the beginner section. Fascinating.

    I'm puzzled myself.

I got one wrong because I didn't know whether to use the British or American spelling. Apparently I chose the wrong one.

I thought "пуп" = "bum"? I did smile at the question, though.

You scored 92% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 93% Expert!
I wish it would tell me what I did wrong. I mean, I don't know whether the writer agreed with "hanged", which I use. Plus it's a little embarassing that I messed up one of the beginner ones .

    PS: ah, key. Right.
PPS: no idea what I got wrong on the beginner section. Must have clicked something wrong .

She sure was. I lost one for putting "both" there. Everybody's always said "no, it's 'hung'" whenever I've used "hanged", so I thought they were right too (heh, cocky of me, eh?). Damn.

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

#30 was a strange one,/; however I remember my puctuation.

It's pronounced 'reesk', for those who are unfamiliar with the word.

On this side of the Atlantic we pronounce it "risk-ay". That may be because even OUR hatred of the French comes nowhere close to the long-running English hatred for the French. For that I applaud you.

    WTF are you talking about?

It's French, actually with an accent on the E.

100% in everything but expert (93%). Looks like "hanged/hung" got me too...I could've sworn that both were ok!
P.S. - Исправление ошибок в моих текстах на русском всегда приветствуется
