Best method of learning the English language
When it comes to learning Russian, I have a plethora of resources at my disposal, but I would like to know the best way a Russian-speaking person can go about learning or improving their English.
My father-in-law is Ukrainian and has been trying to learn English for years. He knows about as much English as I do Russian (about 30-40%) and struggles with life because he cannot communicate with the people around him... I would like to help him as much as I can because we cannot talk with each other because of the language barrier (which we're trying to take down, from both sides). Is there a Russian version of Rosetta or Pimsleur or equivalent for learning English?
I appreciate your help!

If that percentage is anything close to the truth, then I don't think any self-earning course is going to help you improve it. Getting a tutor would be an option.

1. I like books by А. Драгункин. You can see one of them here http://www.bolero.ru/books/9785793106313.html?terms=драгункин .
I suppose that it is the best way for learning English to understand it fast. :yahoo:
2. This book is good as well http://www.bolero.ru/product-50406740.html?terms=английский%20для%20наших . But remember, it is not for beginner level. The English Grammar becomes clearer after reading. :)
3. I heard it somewhere on Internet that “English grammar in use by Murphy R. is the best text book in the whole world!” I agree.
4. Practice, practice, as more as possible. Good luck. :)
Will you tell your achievements to us? :)
