I've never heard the word astucious. Astute is another word for smart.

Astucious ·adj Subtle; cunning; astute. -says US Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary (1913 edition) , probably this use is outdated.

I've never used the word astucious, and my spell-check program does not even recognize it. But to describe someone as "astute" means that they are intelligent, observant and quick to notice things which others might not pick up on.
