"Much of a muchness" isn't really about something tautologist, it's about lack of variation. Like "it's all the same", "it's the same old thing".

Yes now I think that is why my English teacher repeated this time to time when we got to use the primitive sentenses with lots of the similar words.

It relates with the tautology only косвенно, опосредованно.

Is there any appropriate popular idiomatic exclamation then?

Very informal American English idiom: "the same difference"

when talking about the same thing happening again sometimes people say "same old same old" or "the same old thing".
