Thread: Pravit reist nach Deutschland

Hallo! Ich habe ein Stipendium gewonnen, mit dem ich nach Deutschland diesen Sommer reisen werde. Ich weiss noch nicht, wenn ich reise oder wo ich bleibe, aber das ist ja ganz toll! Was denkt ihr - was soll ich wissen, bevor ich reise?

Ich denke, du sollst sicher wissen, dass alle Deutsche meinen dass jeder Auslaender Deutsch sprechen kann/soll koennen. Aber das kann natuerlich kein Problem fuer dich sein.

By the way, I know this is a little late, but I just remembered that "wenn" is always used even if you mean "whenever" or "when(and I am certain that this will happen)." Wann is only used as a question word. So I was right! Heh. Sorry, but I hate screwing up.

WENN means both 'if' and 'whenever'. So, both your sentences are correct, depending on the situation and context (except for 'gehen' , should be 'gehe.').

When(ever) I go to the store - I'm definitely going, I just don't know yet at exactly what time.

You also need to consider WANN, which is a question word, aksing for a certain time. 'Wann kommt der Zug an?' (When does the train arrive?)
Another one is ALS, which is used for two things happening at the same time, now or in the past.

Dammit, looking over my post, I see I really DID need "wann" there! I hadn't really remembered exactly how I had screwed up.
