The best links on Arabic
Please, post the links to Arabic learning sites that you think are the best. Also mention why people should go (or not go :) ) and see the site.

This one caught my eye as a source of basic (should I say no-frills) information about the Arabic culture and language. They also have a forum running there.

As-salaamu alaykum!
Here is another great site for learning Arabic, I remember this from two years ago when I wanted to learn it really badly but didn't have anything to learn it with. They provide you a nice tutorial on the Arabic alphabet and basic conversation, and even throw in some grammar too. The tutorial has sound for each phrase.

There used to be an About.com site for Arabic, but it dissapeared :x :(

For those unfortunate enough to still use Windows 9x/NT/Me, now you can also write in Arabic:
Go to http://zsigri.tripod.com/fontboard/arablpk.html and follow the instructions.

Ok, here's my contribution:
A nice online dictionary: http://dictionary.sakhr.com/ (they seem to have a paid machine translation service as well)
A nice downloadable dictionary: http://ufal.mff.cuni.cz/~smrz/prelimina ... o.xml.html (unfortunately it's Czech, and uses a very weird encoding)
A very nice course, mainly on Arabic script but including a little on grammar as well: http://www.webpersonal.net/jordimastrul ... sc.en.html (it seems half-offline now, but I had been lucky enough to save a local copy before half of the pages disappeared)

I've found http://www.mesiti.it/arabic to be a very useful source, with a wonderful wiki on each facet of Arabic. It's a tad incomplete, but a very uncluttered layout and format makes it the best so far in my book.
