    Translation, please

    Would somebody please translate:

Олег будет в питере скоро, а след выходных

Sorry, I am very new to russian. I think this says:

Oleg will be in Petersburg soon, a few days off work

I guess you made a typo -на следующих выходных

    I'd say:
Oleg is going to Saint Petersburg soon. Next weekend.

Or (how I love to nitpick) better yet:

Oleg will be in St. Petersburg soon, next weekend.

    Same thing

Nitpicking can sometimes be pretty useful. For example, if correcting is the last thing you feel like doing you can just nitpick (without making comments on what someone did). Just offer your version.

Hmm.... is this hidden critisism? Do you want me to explain why I think my version is better?

    Here it goes:
Your translation says Oleg is GOING to St. Petersburg, which IMHO would of been Огег поедет/ Олег едет ... while it said будет which is normally translated as 'will be'... therefore I think my translation is more exact... but the thought is the same...

I didn't mean to criticize you in any way. I just pointed out that you can sometimes help others by netpicking. When I saw your version I looked back at mine and at the the original text. I found that I'd made a rather loose translation that could confuse Sudlow. I didn't have the aim to make an exact translation, therefore I just made the translation that would help Sudlow get what the Russian version meant.
