To conduct, to drive.

"Он водил составы под землей, он был машинист, и она модел."

"He drove things under ground (in the subway) he was a mashinst, she was a model"

perfective- повести, i suck at verbs of motion, so il just do "Водить"

You were correct in choosing водил, because it was many times in the past, or, say, "he used to drive many times", not once.
The only correction here is ..., а она была модель (моделью).

You can also say ... он был машинистом...(Instrumental)
becuase it is usual to use an instrumetal case when you say
он/она был/будет ... (what?)
in the past and in the future.

oh, well i spos'e i forgot the ь On model... but there is no была in there... simply,

"he was a mashinist, and she, a model".

Well, then
Он был машинистом, а она моделью.
