Застенчивый is more common in conversations. Робкий is often used in proverbs and sayings.

Why do you use the word 'blin' so often, Dogboy? Doesn't it mean 'pancake'?

Blin - IS a pancake indeed. But in this case it's a kinda "linking" word meaning something like "damn, dang it, sh-t,f--k"

THere is one more synonym which you are most likely hear in everyday speech: Скромный.
Он такой скромный!! - He's so shy!!

I'm under the impression that "Блин" is kind of a polite substitute for cussing, like saying "heck" instead of "hell" in English. Is that true?

скромный - modest; frugal (о питании); unassuming, unpretentious (без претензий)

робкий - shy, timid; bashful (застенчивый)
