In Greece - Cyprus every day is associated with a Saint and the person who has the name of the Saint celebrates (exactly like birthday).
In case you have: What do you say to the person who celebrate (i.e. wishes). For examble in birthday is: С днем Рождения
We have exactly the same thing here but we don't really celebrate this. I'm sure most people don't even know when their Name Day is but everyone sure has an idea of what именины is

As you can see именины is from the word имя (name). The conventional phrase for this occasion is С именинами тебя or Поздравляю с именинами and anything like that

I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.
If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.

Do you know whether other Christian Countries celebrate it? (e.g. USA, UK, Italy etc).
Чем больше слов, тем меньше они стоят.

This is the first time I've ever heard of this holiday.
