    Eurovision 2004

    Hello all.

As usual, I'm quite looking forward to the Eurovision this year. Has an act been selected to represent Russia yet?

We're still looking in Ireland. The official site is: http://www.rte.ie/star

Is there one to keep up-to-date on the situation in Russia?

    Thank you

Do people send in recordings of themselves to be in with a chance?

    I'm gonna 'google' her now!

    Thanks

Verka Serdyuchka? Hmm. I personally don't like her (or should I say 'him' ) I'd send a rock band to that contest (don't ask me which though)

I dont like here either. But look at the list of Russian singers/bands that appered on Eurovision: Alla Pugacheva, Philipp Kirkorov, Alsu, Mumii Trol, Hi Fi, Tatu - I can see that each year they try to invent something original (shocking?). So, Verka would be a good addition to this list. By the way, (s)he is Ukranian, how can (s)he represent Russia?

Oh! Verka Serduchka — Eurovision 2004!!!
I like everything utmost vulgar, gaudy and flashy so it becames fun again for clever people.
    :thumbs up:
If "he or she" (in this case I agree to use this formula, BTW) is not Russian citizen yet, they must do it!

    Eurovision 2004

    Verka Serdyuchka?
Who or what might he/she /it be?
Eurovision is a song contest.Everyone sings in his or her own language which nobody else understands! Sometimes good singers are discovered like ABBA. This year France will be represented by Jonatan Cerrada, who's Belgian. He has a great personality and voice, so I hope they give him a decent song.

This rule was many years ago. Nowadays a good half of contestants sing in English.

Hey hey! Don't dis da teens! I don't like ABBA (in Holland it's mostly associated with gay culture ), but I do enjoy Schubert, Swing and the Red Army Choir. Not all teens are shallow R&B-fans. 2pac rulezzzz!!!

Thank God. On Monday a sweet 15 year old Russian girl in my class came up to me and said 'What does PIMP mean?'
The funny thing was I literally couldn't bring myself to tell her in the classroom
